ABSTRACT
The assessment of dermatoneurological impairment in patients diagnosed with leprosy is essential for identifying clinical manifestations and risk factors associated with the disease. This process aids in understanding and detecting the extent of nerve damage, preventing physical disabilities through early treatment. This study was based on a systematic literature review, selecting publications from the last 10 years. Significant findings highlighted nerve function impairment and its impact on quality of life, revealing that sensory nerves are more frequently affected than motor nerves. The results emphasize associations between quality of life, disability grade, and body image, underscoring the need for holistic assessments and treatments that address the multifaceted impacts on affected individuals.
